The highly-awaited second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been widespread.
The first season introduces a large cast of characters residing in the afterlife, pits them against each other with musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that drive fan obsession.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain themes recur frequently: Will a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the binding agreement constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with fan service specifically in mind," the showrunner stated recently. "However I feel like me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how quickly season 2 moves, and how many of what they're waiting for unfolds now.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing reveals, some fascinating origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — especially in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a few fans create a prediction grid about the new season," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've actually done some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on the streaming service on October 29.
